Living within a society that praises perfectionism and scolds rest? You are not alone. This is seen throughout our daily life. By being the perfect partner, the perfect parent, the perfect child, and most of all being the perfect employee. Even through a traumatic event, crisis, and/or loss. As a student wellness counsellor I’m truly invested in the human experiences as a whole with my counselling approach being person-centered. As such, I could then be viewed as your own personal trainer for your brain. Being authentically you, however, is seen as a cliché one should consider the wise words Lauren Fogel Mersy: “Being able to be your true self is one of the strongest components of good mental health.” This at its core relates in my view to the human connection – I’m passionate about relationships with my core interest being the family structure. I’m also a strong advocate for pre-marital as well as marital counselling as I understand it to be the foundation of the family structure. Other areas of passion include crisis intervention (including addiction but not limited to), trauma, and anticipated loss. As these experiences are universal. Furthermore, I have completed my Honours degree in psychology along with a few other mental health counselling courses and am forevermore staying up to date with new literature and exciting courses. Being a Humanitas wellness counselling student I’m ready to serve my community and meet you!
