HI! my name is Juliette van Eijk and I am a qualified social worker and registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor. I am both Dutch and French and moved to South Africa in 2020.
It’s not a coincident I was drawn to social work and counselling. I myself needed this guidance when I was younger and it took a lot of work and support to become the woman I am today.
I know from my life experience, education & training that we are handed defence mechanisms, an attachment style, trauma, beliefs and ways of coping, based of the family and circumstances we were born into and had to survive in.
I personally learned that self-awareness and self-empowerment can have a huge influence on how your life will turn out.
I found that I had a passion and talent for listening to and understanding others and from there I found my purpose: Counselling.
I have a combination of a Bachelor & Honours of Social Work and the 220 hours training qualification as Specialist Wellness Counsellor. This gives me a wide knowledge of proven methods, listening & counselling skills. I have endless compassion and I live to make people feel seen, heard and understood.
My counselling is trauma-informed and I will always further my knowledge based on your unique lived experience, so that you get the support that fits your unique self. But I also know when things are out of my scope of practice, and I will always refer you to the right professional if needed.
But most of all, I love to facilitate the discovery of your personal strengths, knowledge and resources that you have within to build the life you want to live.
Made of Oak is inclusive, anti-discriminatory, anti-racist and LGTBQIAP+ friendly. I am culturally knowledgeable and sensitive. You can expect unconditional positive regard no matter your past, your ethnicity, your disability status, your religion, your gender expression, your sexual orientation and/ or beliefs.
Meeting you where you're at. Exploring together where you can go.
