Nonkosi Mthembu

Hi, I'm Nonkosi, a counselling intern with Humanitas. I am fluent in both the English and IsiZulu language. I have a Bachelor of Social Science Degree and Honours majoring in Psychology which I obtained through the University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

I have always been passionate about helping people anyway and anyhow I am able too. I have always pride myself in my ability to just lend a listening ear to anyone I encounter and to truly hear them out. This has sparked an interest and a passion in mental health, and the importance of prioritizing mental health in one's life. That's why I believe entering in the field of the helping profession is my purpose in life.

I am open to collaboratively working with different people whether it is children, teenagers, adults or even the elderly. I am able to work with any circumstances whether it be loss and grief, trauma, survivors of sexual abuse and life stressors or challenges. Within the counselling process I will make use of the person centered approach which will allow me to go where the client goes.This also includes providing a safe space where I prioritize being non-judgemental, empathy, trust, patience and care for all individuals I will be working with.
