The Humanitas Counselling Interns are volunteering their time to offer free online counselling services.

The Humanitas Counselling Interns are an amazing group of people. They have either a degree or an honours degree in Psychology or Social Work and each one of them is passionate about working with people. They have recently completed their theoretical component of our Humanitas Counselling Course and are now ready to start with their practical component or internship. During this second component of their training, our interns will offer over 200 hours of counselling, free of charge to the general public, via an online platform. They also offer face to face counselling sessions, and volunteer their time, at the amazing organisations and institutions who we have partnered with.

Our Humanitas Counselling Interns are eager to connect, listen and talk with you. If you would like to book a free ONLINE counselling session – please have a look at the different people who are able to help. Choose the person you would like to book your session with and fill in the form at the bottom of this page. They will get back to you as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: The need for free counselling is extraordinarily high. Our Interns make themselves available as and when they have capacity to take on new clients. If no intern-profiles are reflecting on this page, it means that none of our interns currently have capacity to start any new processes.
Please check in regularly, as we have several intakes throughout the year and therefore new interns join us on a regular basis, or in case of an emergency, please make use of the emergency numbers provided on this site.

    Londani Mudau

Demi Lovato once said , ''You do not have to struggle alone in silence, you can be un-silent. You can live well with a mental health condition, as long as you open up to somebody about it."

My name is Londani Mudau, a BA Psychology graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand. I am very passionate about helping people, trustworthy and dedicated in what I do. I believe in unique and individulised approach to each person's journey, counselling from a person centred perspective and focusing on each client's needs. I believe that each person has inner resourses that can help them change their situations and I am here to support you to be the best version of yourself. Every person deserves to be listened to, respected and empowered for their well-being. Every journey begins with the first step and you just took yours.

    Humanitas Counselling Intern

    Tehila Spangenberg

It is Carl Rogers who said; life at its best, is a flowing, changing process in which nothing is fixed.

With that in mind, I feel as though we all experience change at some point, and with it, the accompanying challenges. It is through these challenges that we learn to navigate and establish areas in life where we might need more attention, and other areas where we thrive.

I am incredibly passionate about aiding and assisting others in an environment where they can freely and fearlessly express themselves, while also working towards achieving the goals they themselves have set. I believe in fostering a space that is conducive to growth and progression. Conversely, I do not believe in overexerting oneself. I believe that with the right support, at your own pace, and with a certain level of commitment from you, we together can achieve great possibilities.

I enjoy working with people from all walks of life (children, teenagers and adults). I am the youngest of three siblings,  I am married to my university sweetheart, and I love animals.

I completed my undergraduate BSoc. Sci degree at the University of the Free State after which, I completed my Honours degree in Psychology through Unisa.

I believe that counselling is an interaction between both  the counsellor and the client and in order to achieve the desired outcome, both must commit to doing their part. Challenges are inevitable, but how we overcome and work through them, is entirely up to us.

    Megan Gericke

Hi. I'm Megan Gericke. My personal philosophy is similar to that of Victor Frankl, that life is a quest for meaning. I've had my fair share of confusion and frustration for years trying to figure out what to do in life. Having grown from my own tumultuous teenage years to a now dynamic and ambitious woman, I feel comfortable working with both teenagers and adults. The Humanitas course has equipped me with various skills such as counseling trauma, crisis management, loss and grief, stress, selfcare, etc. If you would like to book a session with me I will provide you a safe and judgement-free space to talk and express yourself. I am also bilingual so I am comfortable with both Afrikaans and English speaking clients.

I am currently a Counselling student at Vita Nova and look forward to engaging with clients in one-on-one sessions where we will work together as a team in order to strive for client self-actualization. Ever since I can remember I have always been concerned with the mental well-being of others and find extreme joy in helping others through their live difficulties as well as helping them find effective solutions through the struggles that we all face at some point in our lives. As of now, I have obtained practical and academic experience at: • Vita Nova – Specialist Wellness Counselling Course • UNISA – Psychology Honours Degree • University of Pretoria – Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology I aim to take what I have learned throughout the years (both academically and practically) in order to establish a meaningful bond with all my clients, and be of assistance where it is needed. I found Vita Nova in the hopes of connecting with people in need in a faster manner, so that I can start making a difference in the Wellness field of our community – which is a growing need with each day that goes by. I view each person as unique with their own set of needs, therefore I aim to approach each individual in a different capacity relevant to their specific situation. Refilwe Legodi

    HI there 🙂

Lovely to meet you. I studied psychology a couple of years ago and now I would like to transcend my studies and acquired skills and knowledge from Humanitas into the field and do the work. I have a little bit of experience in counselling. I am open to counselling anybody who thinks I am suitable for them but my main target is more towards the marginalised communities so that would be queer and non-binary individuals and couples, disabled people, fat bodies, people struggling with sexual identities and teenagers etc. Please feel free to book a session with me if you see I fit what you are looking for in a counsellor. I can understand and speak English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, SePedi, SeTswana, SeSotho,

As cliche as this may seem, I do believe it is possible to live, love, laugh without apprehension if you have a great and consistent support system.

    Esté Stander

Hello, ek is Esté. My storie begin met musiek en dans. Vandat ek kan onthou het ek veiligheid in dit gevind en met lewenservaring het ek my passie in Sielkunde ontdek.

Ek het 'n BSC sowel as 'n Honeurs in Sielkunde.

                                                                            xxx

Hi, I am Esté. My story begins with dance and music. Ever since I can remember, I have found a safe zone in music and dance and have found the root of my passion for psychology during my own life experiences.

I have my BSc degree along with my Honours in Psychology as well as training in teaching Grade R. I have a deep passion for children and young people. The biggest reward is to see our younger generations flourish and become confident and comfortable with and in themselves. My highest priority is for them to know that I am listening to them and there to help them foster the best version of themselves.

Regardless of your age, I hope to be there for you, walking right next to you, in your counseling journey, sharing in the good and the bad memories. I strive to support and inspire people around me while also encouraging them to discover themselves and how to be 100% themself.
