The Humanitas Counselling Interns are volunteering their time to offer free online counselling services.

The Humanitas Counselling Interns are an amazing group of people. They have either a degree or an honours degree in Psychology or Social Work and each one of them is passionate about working with people. They have recently completed their theoretical component of our Humanitas Counselling Course and are now ready to start with their practical component or internship. During this second component of their training, our interns will offer over 200 hours of counselling, free of charge to the general public, via an online platform. They also offer face to face counselling sessions, and volunteer their time, at the amazing organisations and institutions who we have partnered with.

Our Humanitas Counselling Interns are eager to connect, listen and talk with you. If you would like to book a free ONLINE counselling session – please have a look at the different people who are able to help. Choose the person you would like to book your session with and fill in the form at the bottom of this page. They will get back to you as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: The need for free counselling is extraordinarily high. Our Interns make themselves available as and when they have capacity to take on new clients. If no intern-profiles are reflecting on this page, it means that none of our interns currently have capacity to start any new processes.
Please check in regularly, as we have several intakes throughout the year and therefore new interns join us on a regular basis, or in case of an emergency, please make use of the emergency numbers provided on this site.

You are not alone. Reach out and chat to one of our counselling interns today.

I am  a dedicated counsellor with a deep passion for working with people and promoting mental wellness. With an Honours degree in Psychology, I find a purpose in understanding human behavior and walking alongside individuals through their most challenging moments. My mission is rooted in the belief that a happy face and a happy life are not only possible but essential for personal and communal well-being.

Driven by empathy and a genuine desire to help, I see each person’s problem as my own concern. My believes is that when one person finds the inner peace and happiness, it radiates to those around them. My work is more than a profession—it’s a calling to uplift, support, and guide others toward healing and happiness💛.

I believe counselling should help you feel supported while also giving you tools to make real changes. I work in a calm and understanding way, helping clients manage anxiety, trauma, and stress. I’m especially interested in helping people strengthen their self-esteem, cope with life changes, and better understand their emotions so they can live more balanced and confident lives.

I have a passion for "trying." Whether that means trying new things, trying to push through the old or just trying your best in general. I believe that if you're trying, you're doing nothing wrong. I like to focus on helping others understand themselves better, which tends to prove valuable in numerous ways. Thinking with an open mind and speaking with warmth represent my key traits, ones which you can expect during a session with me. My passion for this field has grown since I was a child and evolved through my studies, which includes my honours degree in psychology. Feel free to reach out for counselling as your first step in "trying", in whatever form it might be.

    Hi, my name is Sherelle.

    Thank you for being here.

I know reaching out for support isn’t always easy — it takes courage to say, “I need someone to talk to.” That’s why I strive to make every person I work with feel welcomed, heard, and truly cared for. Whether you're facing something overwhelming, feeling stuck, or just needing a safe space to breathe and be yourself, I’m here to walk that journey with you.

My approach is people-centered and warm, with a focus on building a real, human connection. I believe in meeting you exactly where you are — no pressure, no judgment. You don’t need to have it all figured out before coming to counselling. Sometimes, just showing up is the bravest step, and I honour that.

In our sessions, you can expect a gentle and supportive space where your thoughts, emotions, and experiences are held with care. I value authenticity and trust, and I work at your pace — because this is your space, your story, and your time.

I offer counselling in both English and Afrikaans, and I’m happy to switch between the two if it makes you feel more comfortable. Ultimately, language is just the tool — my real goal is to be fully present for you, to walk alongside you, and to help you feel a little less alone in whatever you’re going through.

You are welcome here. Truly. :)
