PETER SCHULTZ
Humanitas Lecturer and Senior Supervisor
As Social Worker in Private Practice, I am registered with the South-African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP), the South African Association for Social Workers in Private Practice (SAASWIPP) as well as the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).
Retiring as senior lecturer in Social Work from Unisa in 2019 I went back into private practice. During my 8 years at Unisa I have obtained a PhD in Social work, co-authored four academic articles and co-authored a textbook on Social Work, as well as facilitated the development of the Higher Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work. Academically I am still involved in supervising post-graduate students in Social Work, as well as assisting post graduate students with the coding and data-analysis of their transcripts.
My current involvement at Vita Nova and Humanitas, working with a special team of colleagues, allows me the opportunity to give back from my experience and knowledge. Teaching counsellors, developing material for short courses and supervising Humanitas students is exciting and may at times even be challenging as it encourages me to keep up to date with developments in the field of social sciences.
